About the Role

Our client is a large London gallery specialising in modern and contemporary art. Established in the early eighties, the gallery showcases art from emerging and established artists, and household names. 

They are on the hunt for an experienced operations professional to join their team at their London gallery. This role will be responsible for supporting the coordination and running of the Operations Department alongside the Operations Manager and a wider team of technicians and coordinators.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with the sales support team to provide all art services for display and appointment needs
  • Ensure Gallery display for appointments and exhibitions are coordinated in a way that supports the Company vision and its values, and ensure all sales-related demands are executed in a timely manner
  • Overseeing movement of stock and accurate maintaining of records
  • Check artwork quality and assessing condition
  • Tracking all products/issues, ensuring correct route is followed
  • Liaise with suppliers re on-going orders / timeframes / cost management
  • Assist department with supplier deliveries and collections
  • Coordinating logistics and installations for UK and oversees appointments
  • Working closely with suppliers and artists’ workshops

 Administrative duties for the department, including:

  • Providing office support to the Department Manager
  • Providing cover for colleagues in their absence
  • Research into competitive suppliers, building new relationships
  • Development of Department paperwork – initiate ideas for future development
  • Develop a direct and positive working relationship with the operations office team, sales support team and maintain sound communication with other team members

Key Qualities Required:

Essential:

  • 3+ years of experience in a logistics role gained within a gallery, auction house or museum setting
  • Strong communication skills at all levels
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Highly organized; accuracy with figures / sensitive data
  • Assertive, yet calm demeanour
  • Acute awareness of Supply and Demand Chain
  • Pro-active at all times
  • Team player; works to own initiative
  • Office 365 fluency

Beneficial but not essential:

  • Additional language(s)
  • Understanding of customs procedures
  • Client liaison experience
  • Understanding of framing methods
