About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Gallery Manager to lead the commercial and operational management of their London and Italian gallery spaces. This pivotal hire comes at a time of exciting transition, as the Founder prepares to fully dedicate herself to the launch of a foundation in Italy.

This is a broad, hands-on role with a clear pathway to Gallery Director within 2–3 years. You’ll join a small, international team and take ownership of sales strategy, client development, daily operations, and public-facing communications. The right candidate will bring both structure and energy to the gallery’s operations, while representing its ethos with passion and integrity. During the initial 4-month trial, the focus will be on establishing rapport with clients, refining internal systems, and driving consistent sales. Upon successful completion, the role will transition into a full-time Gallery Manager role, with expanding leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Client Management

  • Drive and close sales across a broad price range (primarily £10k–£30k)
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with collectors worldwide (Europe, US, Asia)
  • Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities and partnerships

Database & Systems

  • Oversee and expand the Artlogic database to support client relations, sales tracking, press, and institutional outreach
  • Refine existing systems and workflows to improve efficiency and communication across teams

Public Relations & Outreach

  • Cultivate relationships through digital and in-person outreach
  • Lead gallery communications, including newsletters, social media, website updates, and press kits
  • Represent the gallery at private viewings, cultural events, and international fairs

Exhibitions & Operations

  • Coordinate exhibitions, installations, and events in both London and Italy
  • Ensure smooth daily operations and a professional, welcoming visitor experience
  • Support and lead a team of assistants and collaborators (London: GM, 2 assistants; Italy: 1 assistant; part-time Social Media Manager)

Candidate Profile

The client is looking for someone confident, adaptable, and commercially minded, a natural salesperson who thrives in both creative and business-facing environments.

Essential

  • Proven track record in art sales, client relations, and target achievement
  • Previous experience in a gallery, auction house, or luxury/art/lifestyle setting
  • Strong communication skills, written and interpersonal
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of delegating effectively
  • Proficiency in Artlogic, Artsy, Google Suite, and digital marketing platforms
  • Comfortable working independently and leading a team

Preferred

  • Existing network of collectors or curators
  • Multilingual, fluency in French or Japanese is a plus
  • Experience with institutional partnerships and/or press relations
  • Able to travel occasionally for fairs and exhibitions

Start Date:
Trial phase in late 2025 | Full-time start from January 2026
Commitment: 3–5 days per week
Contract: Yearly, with a 4-month paid trial period
Languages: Fluency in English required; French or Japanese a strong plus
