About the Role

They are the trusted partner for renowned institutions, known for their bespoke logistics solutions that reflect the complex demands of the art world without compromising on supreme privacy and industry-leading standards. Their international clientele span museums, galleries, private collectors, auctioneers, and art fairs amongst others.

They are looking for an Operations Manager to join their expanding team, based in West London.

As the Operations Manager, your duties will include:

  • Working with the General Manager to formulate watertight operational procedures.
  • Hiring staff for all roles reporting into position.
  • Manage and oversee Operational function for Fine Art, including personnel scheduling, customs procedures and vehicles.
  • Maintain steady flow for Operational Tasks
  • Manage all Operations Coordinators, Drivers, Technicians and Subcontractor staff.
  • Maintain compliance of all items under TA and Bond.
  • Monitoring operations purchasing and spending.
  • Assisting shipping coordinators and sales with large shipments.
  • Monitor staff progression.
  • Disciplinaries
  • Works with Site/ Security manager to ensure safety.
  • Regular H&S audits.

To be a successful Operations Manager you will have the following skills and experience:

  • At least five years experience in similar role.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in customs procedures, particularly for Fine Art.
  • Strong Managerial Skills and ability to problem solve on a regular basis.
  • Experience of operations movements for artworks.
  • Previous Art Handling or Registrar knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to build and maintain good vendor and customer relations.
  • Possible existing relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Proficiency of problem-solving, handling any issues and customer queries.
  • Punctual and with high attention to detail.

Our client is an independent fine art dealership primarily dealing in contemporary art. They have a permanent gallery outside London, and are opening a new space in Notting Hill, London, which will primarily function as a viewing room. Most pieces sell for between £1k-£25k. They are on the hunt for a Sales Associate (title negotiable) to manage this space, firstly alongside one of the co-owners and eventually independently. This role would suit someone who is independent and proactive, and interested in a long-term career within the gallery. Candidates with existing clients are especially of interest. The role can be worked part time or full time but, either way, the candidate will ideally work some Saturdays – at least initially - with the addition of art fairs in the UK and abroad.
