About the Role

Our client has spent five decades connecting collectors with extraordinary objects and the stories behind them. Headquartered in the USA, with offices across the USA and around the world, they serve more than 50 auction categories, including Coins, Sports, Comics, Entertainment, Historical, Jewelry, Fine and Decorative Art, Luxury Accessories, Wine, and many more.
They are on the hunt for a Department Head of Music or Consignment Director of Music to join their team in California, NY or London. The role will play a crucial role in evaluating property, securing consignments, building relationships, and driving business in their Music category. This dynamic position requires exceptional industry knowledge, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to providing outstanding client service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the property and establish auction estimates.
- Acquire consignments through the Auction House and individually generated leads. Research, authenticate, and catalogue property.
- Proof catalogue text and images, press releases, consignment and bidding emails, and advertising copy
- Market lots in auctions for various clients.
- Contribute to the expansion of the client database.
- Answer inquiries before, during, and after the auction.
- Travel as needed to meet with clients and review the property for potential consignment.
- Actively participate in auctions.
About you:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of experience in the music industry, auctions, or high-value collectibles.
- Proven expertise in appraising and valuing music-related items, with an understanding of authentication processes.
- Established network of clients, collectors, and music industry professionals.
- Strong negotiation and sales skills, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing catalogue entries and marketing copy.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Passion for music history and collectibles, coupled with a dedication to providing top-tier client service.

Salary: Generous remuneration package offered, based on experience
Working set up: Full time, onsite, no WFH, contracts offered are for 3-5 years
